
Sri Dhanvantari Arogyashram Trust was setup in the year 1961, with the object of providing the Panchakarma- Shodhana(purificatory) along with Shamana(palliative) Chikitsa to relieve people suffering with both acute and chronic ailments. It was the brainchild and the efforts of Ayurveda Vidwan B.V. Pundit and his sons, who were the first set of trustees, to bring a wholistic treatment centre based on Ayurvedic principles to the town of Nanjangud to benefit the needy at truly subsidised rates, almost seven decades ago.
Being set amidst ten acres of serene biodiverse nature, the environment adds to the therapeutic value of the treatments by refreshing the mind. The property is currently home to about 350 medicinal plant species, over and three hundred varied species of insects and over 60 species of Birds (native and migratory).
It has an outpatient section running on all days of the week including Sundays. We treat a variety of chronic ailments like diabetes, blood pressure, arthritis and skin problems, common seasonal ailments like, viral cough, cold, fever, digestive disorders like diarrhoea, dysentery, chronic skin affections, obesity, constipation, loss of appetite, piles haemorrhoids, fistula (including Ayurvedic surgical treatments), we also offer many treatments for gynaecological disorders.
We organize camps with expertise to treat Kasta Sadhya Vyadhis (ailments curable with difficulty) like rheumatoid arthritis, paralysis, rheumatism, sciatica, paraplegia, migraine, psoriasis, leprosy, leukoderma, facial paralysis, asthma, anxiety and mental stress, male and female sexual dysfunction etc., many patients have benefited from our treatment, and are happy to have been relieved of pain and trauma of their ailments.

B. V. Venkatesha Murthy
B V Venkatesha Murthy studied at the then First Grade College, Mysuru and got his B. Sc and later studied at the Maharaja’s College under Professor Ekambaram to get his honours degree in Statistics. Simultaneously, he studied under Nambishan of Mysuru and Ayurveda Vidwan Narhari Rao of Nanjangud and got his Ayurveda Bhishak degree. He joined the company soon after his graduation. His interest in medicinal plants drove him to establish the B V Pundit Herbal Garden in the lands adjacent Arogyashram premises. He has also published a booklet and a book giving details of all these herbs with illustrations.
Prabha Mokshagundam
Prabha holds a M.A in Philosophy from Mysuru University and a Doctorate in Philosophy from University of Bangalore. Post her doctorate she worked in various organizations the United States for about two decades and volunteered with Peace Corps in Africa and Jordan, before returning to India. Prabha joined Arogyashram in 2012 and has since been honorarily contributing to streamlining the administration of the Nursing Home and driving improvements. She has also been keenly photographing the insects and other wildlife around the Arogyashram campus, fascinated by amazing facets of colour, camouflage, and survival skills they all display, size no bar.
Dr. Rajesh Sreenivasan
Rajesh is a doctorate in Biophysics, was inducted into the parent company Sadvaidyasala in 1997 and has since been managing the responsibilities of production of ayurvedic medicines. He was inducted into the Trust in 1998 and has been given the additional responsibility of the secretary of the Arogyashram 2019.
Dr. B. V. Rajagopal
Dr. B V Rajagopal studied at the Yuvaraja’s College, Mysore, and then at Bengaluru Medical College for his MBBS, and at AIIMS Lucknow for his MD, specializing in internal medicine. He set up private practice in Mysuru at KR Circle and was the city’s first specialist in Cardiology and General medicine. Dr. Rajagopal has been the former President of the Karnataka Chapter of the All-India Medical Association and the President of the Mysore Lion’s Club.
Sri. B. S. Jayant
Mr. B.S Jayant is the Managing Director of the parent company Sadvaidyasala Private Limited; he holds a degree in Chemistry Hons and an MBS from Symbiosys, Pune. He has been successful in steering around the company on a path of profit after his taking over in 1993 and had contributed to numerous improvements in the working of the Company. A major contribution has been the indigenously designed ERP, which was key to record keeping, data analysis and progress. He continues to guide and encourage the development of Arogyashram.
Sri. N. B. Ramagopal
N.B. Ramagopal holds a degree in Engg. From the Jayachamaragendra College of Engineering, Mysuru, he also hods an MBA from Mysuru University. He is currently discharging the responsibilities of Director Operations at Sadvaidyasala. His contribution to the Arogyashram Trust also spans over three decades and has supported and encouraged many development projects.
Sri. Sudheesh Venkatesh
Sudheesh holds a degree in Engineering from the Jayachamaragendra College of Engineering, Mysuru, he also hods an MBA from IIM, Kolkata. He is currently discharging the responsibilities as the Chief Communications Officer & Managing Editor at Azim Premji Foundation, Bangalore. His contribution to the Arogyashram Trust also spans over three decades with many contributions to its development & publicity. He helped publish the book “Plants of Arogyashram” more recently the book titled “Biodiversity in Microhabitats, Plants Predators and Prey of Arogyashram”.
